The Town of Sumner is seeking an office assistant to work 30 hours per week.
Sumner – Part Time Office Staff
The Town of Sumner is accepting resumes for the position of Secretary to the Select Board/Planning Board and Deputy to the Clerk, Treasurer, Tax Collector and Registrar of Voters.
This is a challenging and highly responsible 30 hours per week, part time, administrative position involving numerous actions associated with the operation of the Town Office, including but not limited to the preparation and maintenance of official documents, correspondence, issuance of various licenses and registrations, oversight of elections, cash management and reconciliation and the preparation of reports. The successful candidate will possess proven written and oral communication skills, be familiar with office procedures and equipment, have some prior financial experience, be highly organized, exhibit superb customer service skills, have prior experience working with the public, be detail oriented, possess computer skills, and have the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Requirements include administrative experience and graduation from high school, preferably supplemented by post-graduate training, or any combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform the duties of the position. Previous municipal experience is highly desirable.

Work hours are Tuesday, 10:30-7:00 with a meeting at 7:00; Wednesday 8:30-4:30, Thursday, 8:30-3:00; Friday 9:00.-1:00; Saturday 9:00-12:00

There will be roadside cutting and chipping of trees throughout the Town to prepare for ditching and snow removal. The trees will be left for the property owner
Chandler Bridge on River Rd will be closed to all traffic as of June 1st, 2017- Based on a bridge inspection and recommendation from MaineDOT, the Chandler Bridge that carries River Road will be closed to all traffic in the next few weeks. Replacing the bridge would be costly and not appropriate for a public road at this time.

The Animal Welfare Society and the Cleo Fund are offering services with participating local veterinary clinics to spay/neuter, health exams and rabies shots at a reduced rate for income-qualified cat owners with a $20.00 contribution requested but not required. Feral and community cats will be spayed or neutered at the clinics for no charge. To obtain vouchers, please call the Cleo Fund at (207)773-6221.
