Notice and Events:


The Sumner Recreation Youth Summer Softball Program is announcing its girls’ sign-ups.  Registration forms are available at the Town Office or you may come to the Sign-up session here on Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.   Girls ages 7-18 are invited.

Sumner’s Selectpersons are inviting bids for a three-year mowing contract beginning May 1, 2015 and ending September 30, 2017 for the months of May through Sept.

The contract includes 15 town cemeteries, the Town Beach on Labrador Pond, the office complex lawn, and the two “Welcome” signs in East Sumner.

Bids are due in the town office by 7 p.m. on April 14, 2015.

Zumba classes are held at the Hartford-Sumner Elementary School every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.  The first class is free and $4.00 after that.


Scholarship applications are due by April 30th.  Applications can be found on the website or picked up at the town office. 


Effective February 9 see below the new window hours at the Sumner Post Office:

Monday-Friday, 7-10 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Saturday, 8-11 a.m., same as before


Dog Licensing:

Registering your dog(s) now costs an extra $25 late fee per dog in addition to the normal registration fee.

If you are interested in filling any of these vacancies, please submit an email or letter of interest to the attention of the Select Board.


Transfer Station permits

If you need one, stop by at your earliest convenience.  When registering a new-to-you vehicle, we will be happy to issue you a new sticker!    


ATV use on Decoster, Rosenberg, and Barrows Roads - 

The Select Board granted temporary permission for ATVS to access   these roads.  The topic will be raised for discussion at the 2015 Town Meeting.  Please drive carefully!

Office during regular business hours.


The Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 424 River Road in Lewiston will be open on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from May – November from 8 AM – noon.  We have flyers which list acceptable and non-acceptable items.  There are very specific guidelines, so it would be worth your time to stop in and check it out!


  Burn permits are available on line! The website address is www.maineburnpermit.com  There is a $7 fee for an on-line permit.  

  You can still contact our local men and receive a permit at no cost.
